Be Mine

Valentine's weekend is upon us. I think this is the first time I've been excited about it in years. Not because I'm dying to get flowers and candy and such things, but because Lorelai is finally old enough to enjoy the holiday. Really, I've never been one to celebrate Valentine's. Jon and I rarely do anything to commemorate the occasion. Once in a while we go out to dinner, but we often decide we don't want to fight the crowds and just skip it. I hate for him to spend ridiculous amounts of money on roses too. So usually we just rent a movie and snuggle on the couch.

But now we have kids! And we're so excited to make each and every holiday special for them. We're going to have a fun filled weekend of all things Valentines...

We've sent out Valentine's Day greetings - we even sent one to my brother's dog at Lorelai's request (love you Murray!). Last night we watched Enchanted. (This was a pretty good one! I really liked the ending, but I won't spoil it for you.) Tonight we're going to watch Lady and the Tramp (a classic love story), fill our tummies with sweets (cheesecake pudding!), and snuggle up together (what do I love more than that?). Saturday we've got plans to make some Valentine's crafts - not sure what yet, but I suspect it will involve red construction paper. And then Sunday we'll make a special dinner. Monday we'll give the girls their Valentine's presents (a new book and Elmo movie). And maybe at some point we'll bake some heart shaped cookies. Yummy.

Seriously, I can't remember the last time I embraced the holiday so much. Having kids makes things like this so much more fun!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is Lorelai celebrating Valentine's when she
was just 3 months old. We started early...
I can't believe how much she's changed already...
and how bad that baby eczema was!
