Holiday - Parents.com

Here are some neat holiday craft ideas to do with the kids.

I think we're going to try baking the puppy gingerbread treats for our furry family members. Lorelai is very into "cooking" right now!

Our wonderful friend just made us a Christmas Countdown, so we won't need to make one of those (Thank you Carrie!!!).

And since I'm already having trouble keeping someone out of the tree, we may have to try out those cookie ornaments. With those I at least wouldn't have to worry about her getting hurt!

Hope you all find one idea you'd like to try!

Coloring Pages

Lorelai has recently been exploring her artistic side... mostly through the use of crayons, but sometimes she ventures into other mediums (playdough, yogurt, etc.). As a fellow Crayola-lover, I set out to find some good coloring books for her. Unfortunately, most of the books that I found had very complicated pictures that were difficult for her to color. So I turned to the internet and I found a great number of sites where you can print off your own coloring book pages for free! Most offer a number of different types of pictures: holidays, cartoon characters, letters, numbers, and animals. It was the perfect solution for us. So I thought I'd take a moment and share with you some of the websites that I think have some of the best options for the little Picaso's out there...

parents.com - Here you can print off seasonal pictures. They range in simplicity and have a good number to choose from each season.

twistynoodle.com - This has a huge selection of pictures to choose from. They have a good number that teach letters and numbers too!

coloringbookfun.com - This one has a ton of coloring pages as well as a number of other crafty ideas for little ones.

crayola.com/free-coloring-pages - This one has a lot of neat activities in addition to basic coloring pages.

Here is a sampling of some of our little artist's work...

Happy coloring!

Parenting Website

I find myself frequently asking myself "What should we do?" Surely there is something I should be doing with my children to help them learn skills but have fun at the same time. Coming up with these ideas it not particularly easy for me. Fortunately, I have found a website that I love. It's called Productive Parenting. Membership to the site is free. It gives you an activity to do with your child for each day of the year, and it is all customizable by your child's age and ability. You can have the daily ideas emailed to you, or you can search the site whenever you choose. This is becoming my go-to-source for boredom busters around here. I hope you enjoy it as well!

Vote for my little one!

So I've never been one to enter my kids in baby contests, pageants, etc. But as I was browsing on Parents.com the other day I noticed that they were having a cover model contest for one of their sister magazines American Baby. On a whim I entered Lorelai (Logan is too little, or I'd have entered them both!). I didn't think much of it until I got an email saying that she may be the one to win the pick of the week! So now I need you all to get out there and vote for her!

Just click on this link and vote!
