I'm Stuck!

It seems as adults we forget about how difficult it can be to get around when you're a small child - climbing up a hill seems like scaling a mountain, walking to the playground a few blocks away seems like hiking for miles, and getting into a kitchen cabinet seems just short of mastering a Houdini trick. My daughter, Lorelai, has recently discovered one of the limitations of her size - being stuck. She climbs into a giant box but can't get out. She dives head first behind the couch but can't find an exit route. She climbs up on a large rock but can't find a way down. All situations lead to a pint-sized, red head shouting, "Help! I'm stuck!!!" which more accurately sounds like "Hep! I stuck!!!"

Every time her calls for help were made, I came running. Recently we were heading home from a visit with my brother and his wife. As we began the four hour drive home, Lorelai began trying to wiggle out of her car seat. When she had no success she immediately turned to her new catch phrase, "Momma! Hep! I stuck!" My husband and I laughed and agreed with her - she was indeed stuck. Unfortunately for her, there was nothing we could do about it.
